Geometric measurement of long products

Long products such as profiles, billets, etc., which are produced by rolling, drawing or forging, sometimes have complex cross-sectional geometries. Multi-sensor systems are used to check the dimensional accuracy of the geometry and to control the production process.

Depending on the application, Micro-Epsilon offers systems with Thrubeam sensors as well as red and blue laser profile scanners to provide the optimal solution for each application. The systems operate with impressive precision even under the toughest hot rolling conditions. Integrated, fully automatic calibration compensates for the temperature-related potential long-term drift of the mechanics.

As a competence center for multi-sensor 3D measurement technology, Micro-Epsilon Atensor develops the signal processing software for these systems. The focus is on the performance of the algorithms and the precision and stability of the detected or calculated parameters of the long products.
